Dr. Ji Zhang, received his Ph.D. of forensic genetics in 2004 at Sichuan University. In 2011, he finished his postdoctoral training at the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Endoscopy of Brigham and Women’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School, and back to the Department of Forensic Genetics, Sichuan University. He iscurrently a PI anddoctoral supervisor of Forensic Genetics. In addition, he is executive director of Sichuan Forensic Medicine Association, Science and Technology leader of the Health and Family Planning Commission of Sichuan Province, and the secretary of the subject consultative group of Spesific Medicine of the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council. He is also an editorial board member ofForensic Genetics, a national planning undergraduate textbooks during the 11th, 12th, and 13th Five-Year Plan.He is an NSFC-funded investigator whose research program focuses on forensic DNA test, which including: 1. highly sensitive detection and genotyping of DNA/RNA markers based on the whole genome amplification, whole transcriptome amplification, and emulsion PCR. 2. Haplotype consists of linked SNP and InDel loci and its application in genotyping of DNA mixture and paternity test. 3.Allele specific PCR-STR genotyping employing SNP/InDel loci located in the flanking sequence of STR, and its application in DNA mixture. 4. Consistency analysis of microorganism groups based on the pyrosequencing of DNA barcode genes. Dr. Ji Zhang and his colleagues developed an analytic method which can be used to infer the geographic source of bio-samples. 5. Developing a series of ancestry informative markers may be used to infer the sub-population of Chinese.
